The Packard Agency offers insurance options

RICHFIELD – In a sea of ​​insurance and Medicare options, shoppers often encounter their fair share of confusion and pitfalls. Having a partner to help navigate those waters can be vital, according to Mark Malloy, director of sales for Richfield-based Packard Agency LLC.
“There are a lot of options out there — a lot of material is sent through the mail, on television and the Internet — and a lot of people are trying [shop] themselves,” he said. “We can narrow the plans down to your needs. Insurance is a foreign language to most people [but] We speak it very well.”
Founded in 1979, the Packard Agency, located at 4199 Kinross Lakes Parkway, is a distributor of products for individual employer benefits, Medicare and group care. Malloy said the Packard agency works with most major insurance companies and that the company’s “typical customer” is someone seeking an individual health insurance plan, as well as those age 65 or older who qualify for Medicare coverage plans. He added that the Packard agency also serves those between the ages of 62 and 65 with disabilities who qualify for Medicare, and the agency also provides an annual investment to customers.
The company makes Medicare, Part D supplement plans, and Advantage Plans; individual health care plans; employee group benefits; life, dental, and vision insurance; travel insurance; and short-term medical plans.
Regarding the individual health plan, Malloy said employee health insurance plans are still the norm for the majority of individuals, but the Packard agency can also advise on those plans.
“There are still a lot of people who are covered by employers and that is our first recommendation,” he said. “But for some [an employer provided plan] It doesn’t make sense or it’s too expensive.”
Malloy added that the Packard dealership also offers plans for individual owners and small businesses.
Aside from its more than 40 years of experience in the insurance industry, Malloy said the personal service provided by the Packard Agency also sets it apart from other agencies.
“What sets us apart, number one, is that we’re a local company,” he said. “We do business in other states, but 95% of our business is in Ohio.”
Malloy said the Packard dealership offers free consulting and “clients will never pay us a dime.”
“We get paid by the insurance companies when we write a plan,” he explained.
He added that the insurance industry is currently in the middle of its “busy time” of the year, with the open enrollment period for most Medicare recipients running through December 7. The open enrollment period allows both new and existing recipients to make changes to their plans.
